Fanatec at SimRacing Expo 2026: Project Obsidian, ClubSport Pedals V4 and What It Means for Singapore Sim Racers

Fanatec Project Obsidian steering wheel prototype revealed at SimRacing Expo 2026

Fanatec used SimRacing Expo 2026 (16–18 October, Messe Frankfurt, Germany) to show what's coming next for its wheels, pedals and cockpits. Some of it is a 2027 story, but a few items are available now or arriving within weeks. Here is what was announced, what it means if you race in Singapore, and what is worth buying today versus waiting for.

All details below come from Fanatec's official announcements. Prices for the new products have not been announced yet.

Project Obsidian: Fanatec's first wheel with a big colour screen

The headline reveal was Project Obsidian, a prototype steering wheel Fanatec plans to launch in 2027. Fanatec showed it earlier than usual to collect feedback from sim racers before the design is final.

  • 5-inch colour display (1280x720) under a single piece of glass, which also covers the RevLEDs and four lower rotary switches. It is not a touchscreen; you navigate with a FunkySwitch and two buttons.
  • 18 push-button inputs (not counting shifters), including 8 rotaries with push function and RGB-backlit buttons.
  • All-aluminium structure with user-replaceable grips.
  • SimHub compatible: Fanatec says it is the first Fanatec wheel designed with SimHub in mind.
  • Telemetry over USB or Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi supports UDP, so compatible console games can feed the display without an extra cable.
  • Works on PlayStation when mounted on a PlayStation-licensed Fanatec base.

Fanatec has said the appearance is not final and the production screen will be brighter than the Expo prototype. No price yet.

ClubSport Pedals V4: first full redesign since 2008

Fanatec confirmed the ClubSport Pedals V4, the first ground-up redesign of the ClubSport pedals since the originals came out in 2008. They borrow design ideas and mechanical adjustment from the new Podium Pedals, but are aimed at a more accessible price in the middle of Fanatec's range. Launch is planned for 2027, with more details "in the coming months".

Closer to hand is a Red Bull Racing version of the ClubSport Formula V3, styled after the RB22 F1 car with its jacquard pattern and forged carbon finish. It comes with a preinstalled Podium Advanced Paddle Module with matching forged carbon paddles. Unlike the 2024 limited edition, this one goes into regular production, with availability expected from mid-November.

Everything else Fanatec showed

  • Podium Pedals Sport: a two-pedal set with GT-style aluminium pedal plates, launched 16 October. The full three-pedal Podium Pedals set is expected towards the end of 2026.
  • ClubSport Formula Cockpit: the cockpit used at F1 events and the F1 Sim Racing World Championship, revised for home use with better adjustability. Public sale is planned for 2027.
  • ClubSport GT Cockpit accessories: new D-BOX-approved mounting brackets and livery panels.
  • ClubSport F1 Racing System: made its European public debut at the show.
  • BeamNG.drive on PS5: playable at the Fanatec stand ahead of its PS5 Early Access release on 19 October.

What this means for sim racers in Singapore

Buy now if you're racing now. Project Obsidian and the ClubSport Pedals V4 are 2027 products with no price yet, and both are still being finalised. Waiting a year or more means a year of not racing on the gear you want.

Your current setup stays useful. Project Obsidian connects through the Fanatec Quick Release and is designed around Fanatec bases, so a Fanatec wheel base you buy today is the platform the new wheel is built for.

Pedals are the best upgrade today. A load cell brake makes a bigger difference to lap times and consistency than a new wheel. If you don't want to wait for the V4, look at load cell pedals available now.
